Hello :)

hacks all the way down is an early-stage publication that aims to bring a pragmatic, humanizing perspective to the realm of software development, and the tech industry in general.

I’m Thane, an electronic engineer by training, but I’ve been coding since I was 11 years old (nearly 30 years now). In my time I’ve built software in a whole range of programming languages, for a variety of industries, across several continents. I’ve also lead and managed teams of software engineers. Most of what I’ve built isn’t very flashy, but the things that I and my teams built well are the kinds of things that you ideally shouldn’t ever know exist - they should just work.
